MUSIC FIRST

The East Midlands isn't short of musical talent, ambition or people making things happen.What we have been missing is the regional infrastructure that connects our music industry with national decision-makers, investment and opportunity.We've established the East Midlands Music Commission as an independent, industry-led, not-for-profit organisation to change things.We're bringing people and organisations together across six counties, strengthening what already exists locally and making sure the East Midlands is represented nationally.

WE'RE NOT ALONE

We've received support from across the music industry, including UK Music, PRS, Music Venue Trust, the Featured Artists Coalition and people behind successful music commissions in Liverpool, Greater Manchester, the North East and Hull.We're working with our regional music organisations, engaging with local authorities and building support across political parties.The East Midlands Music Commission has been raised in Parliament, where Government encouraged the initiative and committed to supporting its development in any way possible.

WHAT NEXT?

We're developing an independent Music Commission connecting the whole East Midlands.Our first priority is understanding what already exists, what's missing and where working across county boundaries can make a difference.That means listening to the industry, learning from existing research, building regional partnerships and developing the case for investment in our region.Lets make music happen.Work in music in the East Midlands?
